The Chinese audio startup crazybaby is back with one more project. After meeting commendable success with Mars levitating speaker, crazybaby has decided to launch a new Kickstarter for portable wireless speaker named Luna.
Luna’s is designed in the shape of a small ball. Its round shape projects sound in 360 degrees so regardless of where you’re in the room, you will feel like you’re standing right in front of the speaker. Luna is made from brushed aluminum which not only gives it premium look and feel, it also makes it lightweight and durable.
Apart from supporting Bluetooth, Luna also works with Wi-Fi network. Luna also supports multi-room setup which allows setting up multiple speakers around the house. With its MESHNET network technology, you can sync up to 32 Lunas together over your wireless network.
The middle of the speaker features Luna Eye, which comes out of the body when the speaker is powered on. You can think of this as wireless speaker meeting Philips Hue, which allow you to choose from thousands of different colors to match your mood. The hue and saturation of light can be adjusted using Crazybaby app on Android or iOS device.
To provide better sound output, Luna is equipped with a 2-inch full-range NdFeB speaker, which boasts less distortion and a more linear magnetic path. It has a full range speaker driver and a dedicated independent tweeter for detailed highs.
Luna supports local audio library and almost all major music streaming providers including Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Last FM, Tidal and more. Luna also works with Apple’s Airplay, using which, it can be setup as Hi-Fi audio complement. Much like other wireless speakers, Luna can work as a speakerphone too.
Crazybaby claims Luna will live up to 8 hours on a single charge, which is fairly average for a wireless speaker. Luna is equipped with USB Type-C charging port.
Crazybaby’s Kickstarter campaign is currently ongoing, aiming to raise at least $100,000 before 24th April. Its Early Bird offer starts at $129 which gives you one Luna speaker in any of the three colors (Silver, Gold and Space Gray). At its official launch, Luna will cost $249 in the U.S.
Crazybaby aims to start worldwide delivery of Luna by October 2016. They have exceptions on worldwide delivery though and will not ship to many countries including Russia, India, Malaysia and Brazil.
