A large and gorgeous Full-HD screen, powerful processor, fast SSD storage and budget-friendly price -these are the characteristics of all-new HP 15-ay013nr 15.6-inch laptop. For a price tag of only $459 after discount of $100, this laptop from HP packs so much power and performance that it makes other costlier flagships look weak.

Design and Build

HP 15-ay013nr carries design identical to similar laptops. It doesn’t have anything new on the design-front but its body feels sturdy. Look-wise, this HP laptop does look attractive thanks to its textured linear grooves with horizontal brushing in “turbo silver” color. The back panel as well as the front features stylish and professional look and feel.

Don’t expect HP 15-ay013nr to be thin or lightweight (it’s light on wallet though). Most brands are competing to make thin and light laptops but they have their advantages and disadvantages. This laptop from HP doesn’t try to be feather-light or paper-thin. It weighs about 4.65 pounds (around 2.10 KG) with dimensions being 15.12 x 10.02 x 0.95 inches (WDH).

Tech Specs and Performance

Its tech specs are the best part (besides price) about HP 15-ay013nr. It features a 6th generation dual-core Intel Core i5-6200U Processor at 2.3GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz and 3MB L3 cache. The latest Intel processor and an 8GB DDR3L RAM (RAM can be upgraded up to 16GB) provides superior performance. Even with multiple programs or browser tabs open, you won’t notice lag at all.

Moreover, the 128GB SSD storage provides amazingly fast data transfers and app launch times. Windows 10 startup and shutdown times are also exceptionally fast and its great to see this laptop boot up and be ready for work within seconds.

On a side note, If 128GB SSD storage isn’t sufficient for you, you can grab another model HP 15-ay011nr which has 5400 RPM hard drive with 1TB of storage. Everything else remains the same.

Being a 15.6-inch laptop, it features a full-size keyboard with numeric keypad. While DVD drives are slowly disappearing from most laptops, HP has decided to keep it in this laptop.

For wireless connectivity, it has 802.11ac Wi-Fi which provides ultra-fast WLAN performance. It also Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity to allow you to connect any Bluetooth-enabled device like a wireless speaker or a phone.

Just in case if you have older projector/display with VGA connectivity, you will not be able to connect this laptop to them.

Battery

A long-lasting battery is one of the most demanded features in portable devices like laptops. HP claims that this budget-friendly laptop can run for about 7 hours and 15 minutes but depending on your usage, you can get lower -or even higher amount of usage on a single charge.

A 7 hours battery backup can still cover almost whole day of work. If you frequently work while travelling, you should find 7 hours of backup a bit insufficient.

For a $459 laptop, HP 15-ay013nr provides stunning performance. With a Full-HD screen, powerful processor, fast RAM, SSD storage and sturdy build, this laptop comes out as a well-made product for both home as well as office works.

Lack of backlit keyboard and 4.65 pounds of weight could be considered as cons for this laptop. But if that’s not much of a problem for you, HP 15-ay013nr is surely a laptop worth every penny spent on it.
