HP 17-CN0026NR Laptop Review: Good Things Come in Big Size

There was a time when laptops used to be big and bulky. As time passed, they continued to become smaller, slimmer and lightweight. Now a days, you can pop a laptop in your side bag and be ready to work the whole day outside. Laptops have also become increasingly more powerful – providing a convenient alternative to fixed desktop computers.

But there is one thing we miss in small laptops – the screen size. There’s something about big screens that makes it more convenient for many use cases. Be it graphics design, photography, video editing or movie watching among other things, a bigger screen offers much better experience than a small – 13-inch screen.

And luckily for those who prefer a laptop with bigger screen, some brands do offer options to choose from. HP 17-CN0026NR is one such option for those who are looking for a laptop with ample power for day-to-day tasks, a big screen in smaller form factor and decent battery backup.

HP 17-CN0026NR At A Glance

The first thing you notice about this HP laptop is the size of its display – a 17.3-inch display nicely fit into a 15.78-inch by 10.15-inch frame. Which mean it’s not ‘as big’ as you would imagine a typical 17-inch laptop to be. The screen features narrow bezels and offers an HD resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. As you would rightly think, it’s not a Full-HD display. But it does a good job at producing crisp details and vivid colors. It features the BrightView glossy finish that makes on-screen colors pop while blacks appear deep and distinct. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics provide a lag-free graphics performance that a big screen like this deserves. The maximum brightness supported by this display is 250 nits – which is ideal for indoor usage. During outdoor usage, you might find this display a bit darker.

Beside a beautiful big display, HP 17-CN0026NR features an 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor. The quad-core Intel processor does a wonderful job at executing multiple power-intensive tasks. With Intel Turbo Boost technology, this processor can peak the processing speed up to 4.2GHz. Additionally, an 8GB DDR4 RAM provides this HP laptop ample bandwidth for graceful multitasking. For internal storage, HP has provided a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, thanks to which, day-to-day tasks like copy-pasting data, powering up and down the laptop, launching of the apps etc. happens super fast. A laptop with traditional hard disk won’t be able to impress you with such speed.

To offer reliable streaming and downloading experience over a wireless network, HP 17-CN0026NR features the latest WiFi 6 dual channel connectivity. Not only it’s faster than previous WiFi standards, it also offers strong coverage and reliability. Bluetooth 5.2 is also included to let you connect to multiple Bluetooth-equipped devices effortlessly.

To help you connect other devices, HP has quipped this laptop with multiple ports. This includes 1x SuperSpeed USB Type-C with 5Gbps signaling rate; 2x SuperSpeed USB Type-A with 5Gbps signaling rate; 1x HDMI 1.4b; 1x AC smart pin and 1x headphone/microphone combo. There is no optical drive, however.

The 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion battery does a good job at providing enough backup for nearly a whole day of usage with up to 8 hours 30 minutes of mixed use and up to 11 hours of video viewing. While this may not be the best in class backup, it’s still not worth ignoring. With HP FastCharge support, the battery charges up to 50% in 45 minutes.

Other noticeable features include the latest Windows 11, a large and smooth trackpad, a responsive keyboard with backlit, a 720p HD camera, dual speakers with stereo audio output and a fingerprint reader.

Overall, HP 17-CN0026NR is packed with some wonderful tech specs that offer smooth and responsive performance. Featuring a combination of a crisp and large display, a powerful processor, plenty of RAM, fast SSD storage and integrated graphics, this HP laptop provides ample power for everyday users. And did we mention it weighs just 2.05 kg?

HP 17-CN0026NR is ideal for users whose primary use cases include working on Office suite, watching videos, listening to music, occasional photo/video editing and online gaming etc. School and college students, work from home professionals and also office goers – all will love this HP laptop. Having said that, it’s worth mentioning that this HP laptop is not suitable for high-definition gaming or professional photo/video editing.

At $584 for a 512GB SSD storage model, HP 17-CN0026NR is decently priced and is available for purchase from Amazon. At this price, we wish HP included a Full HD display, however. But we like the fact that HP has built this laptop with ocean-bound and post-consumer recycled plastic and ships it in completely recyclable packaging!
