Lining up with the latest entry in the Gran Turismo racing game series by Polyphony Digital, Microsoft has announced a ‘limited edition’ Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation 4. The hardware of this exclusive silver Gran Turismo-themed PlayStation is exactly the same as the standard PS4. What has changed is the look and feel of it.
“The small, slim and light 1 terabyte unit will feature an exclusive Gran Turismo Sport silver faceplate, emblazoned with the logo and a fully-customised silver DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller with the Gran Turismo Sport logo on the touchpad.” states the announcement by Kazunori Yamauchi – President, Polyphony Digital on Sony Europe’s blog.
The console is to be made available from 18th October across UK, Europe, and Australasia. The limited edition PS4 console will include a ‘Day 1’ edition of the racing title. The ‘Day 1’ edition of the game provides access to $250,000 in-game credits, livery sticker packs, a chrome racing helmet, and 60 PS4 avatars.
The company will also make available a standalone Limited Edition DUALSHOCK 4 controller. A version of the controller bundled with a standard copy of the game will also be available.
To cater even more gamers, Sony has announced four new PlayStation bundles, too. These bundles include Jet Black PS4 1 TB edition, Jet Black PS4 500GB edition, Jet Black PS4 1TB + extra Jet Black DUALSHOCK 4 edition, and Jet Black PS4 Pro edition. All bundles will come with a standard copy of Gran Turismo Sport on Blu-ray.
This announcement has failed to excite a lot of gamers, howerever. Many comments by gamers on the announcement page voice the same opinion: Not including PlayStation Pro in this silver GT-themed edition is a bad decision by the company.
Will Sony hear the gamers and unveil a limited edition Gran Turismo PS4 Pro console? We will wait and watch.
